Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) Course starts September 28, 2020

The Nurse Aide program is a comprehensive course designed to teach students the skills and abilities essential to the provision of basic care for patients and residents in hospitals and long-term care facilities. Graduates of this program will be able to communicate and interact effectively with patients, assist patients in attaining and maintaining maximum functional independence, while observing patient rights.

Students will learn how to perform basic first aid, CPR, take vital signs, apply the elements of basic nutrition in meal planning and follow infection control measures. Additionally, they will be able to apply proper body mechanics in bed making, lifting, and positioning patients. Graduates of this program may find entry-level employment as a nurse aide with hospitals and nursing homes.

Type of Certificate

Upon the completion of the program, graduates are required to be certified by taking the state board examination (Nurse Aide Competency Evaluation). The NACE Examination consists of a written test and a skill demonstration test. Employment in the Nursing Aide field requires both the school diploma and the state certification. Fees for the state certification are the responsibility of the student and must be paid before the school schedules the student for testing.
