Advanced Patient Care Technician (APCT) Course starts October 20,2020

Advanced Patient Care Technician Program is an innovative program specifically designed for students who seek employment as an entry level or students employed but wants to acquire more certificates in health care settings. Students who enroll in our program have the opportunity to become a nursing assistant, phlebotomist and electrocardiograph technician within three months (16 weeks). Students will learn how to become skilled health care providers that perform meaningful and helpful tasks, and thereby helping to decrease the strain on other health care professionals.

Graduates of this program will be able to:

  1. Performs basic nursing care at a resident’s bedside in long term care facilities,  hospitals, clinics and rehabilitation centers.
  1. Develop the essential skills required to manage nerve-racking circumstances and  sustain patient confidentiality as well as the commitment to obtaining the very  best quality blood sample for laboratory evaluation.
  1. Operate machines that record the electrical activity of a patient’s heart, which  physicians use to determine possible abnormalities in a heartbeat in health care settings.

Advanced Patient Care Technician is divided into three modules. The first module is a prerequisite for second and three modules. Certified Nurse Assistant can cross to second and three modules. Students new to healthcare setting must attend the three modules sequentially.

Admission/Enrollment for Advanced Patient Care Technician

  • Interview with the school director
  • Certified Nursing Assistant may apply for module 2 and 3 (If applicable)
  • Must be18 years or Older
  • Proof of secondary education (if there no proof of secondary  education, student must achieve 85% passing score on the Wonderlic Aptitude Test)
  • Must have a valid Driver’s license
  • Must have a Social Security Card
  • Criminal Background Check Required
  • Immunizations must be up to date such as Tetanus, Measles, Mumps, Rubella, TB Skin Test, Chicken Pox (Varicella)
  • Ability to use computer.
  • Excellent communication skills.

Course Length: 16 weeks

Class Schedule : Dates for online sessions and in-person labs will be announced a week before the start

Type of Certificate

Upon the completion of all modules, graduates will receive a certificate of completion from Pioneer Institute as Advanced Patient Care Technicians. Module 1, graduates are required to be certified by taking the Nurse Aide Competency Evaluation Test. The Examination consists of a written test and a skill demonstration test. Employment in the Nursing Aide field requires both the school diploma and the state certification. Fees for the state certification is the responsibility of the school and student must pay fully before the school schedules the student for testing. Upon the completion of Module 2/3 graduates can choose whether they would like to be certified.
